About the Club

The RIT Anime Club is a heavily involved organization at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Anyone is welcome to join and showings are free and open to the public. Our primary meetings are held on Thursdays at 8 P.M. (please see the schedule for showings and locations), but there are also Monday and Friday meetings. Purchasing a membership card gives you official member status well as access to our extensive library which holds over 1,500 items of DVDs, VHS tapes, and manga to rent. Some local businesses also offer discounts and special events for cardholding members.

Showings

Thursday Showings (at 8 P.M.) are big meetings where announcements are made concerning club-related things, raffles are held, and anime music videos are presented along with the main showing. Either the first four episodes of a series or a full-length feature will be shown. Thursday meetings are also when the library is open for renting items. All of our meetings and showings are free to attend, but if you want access to the library, a small membership fee is required to help maintain and add to the growing collection.

Monday Showings (at 8 P.M.) are a chance for people to get together and watch two complete series throughout each quarter. Two episodes of two different series are shown each week until both shows are completed. Typically, one series is 13 episodes long and the other is 24-26 episodes long. Please see the schedule for showings and locations.

Fireside Fridays (at 8 P.M.) give everyone a chance to experience something a little different. As much as everyone enjoys the weekly Thursday meetings, not all titles are appropriate for those meetings. At Fireside Fridays, we show various things like live-action shows and movies, concerts, and animated movies that aren't standalone. While the meeting generally takes place in the Fireside Lounge, the RIT Anime Club isn't the only organization on campus, so meetings are occasionally moved. Please see the schedule for showings and locations.

Events

Events and activities are held regularly throughout the year. Between all of the different types of events, including social nights, dance parties, cosplay contests, auctions, and RIT's very own anime convention, there is something to suit everybody. Please see the schedule for descriptions, dates, times, and locations. Most events are free of charge and all are open to the public.

Mailing List

The RIT Anime Club maintains a mailing list to inform members of upcoming showings, events, and other club-related happenings. If you wish to join the mailing list, click here!
